Maggie Toussaint at Sweeter Romantic Notions has written up an article on her experience making a Chapbook. A chapbook is basically a little booklet with an excerpt in it that you use for promotional purposes.

I did this when I had an ebook out last year. Except I did all the printing myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat I did was use the perforated postcards for the cover (you can pick up a pack of 200 at Wal-Mart for less than 10 bucks) - so I used these for my covers. There are four postcards to a page. Then I took the entire PDF file and put it on postcard sized pages. So basically I had the whole book in little booklets, and only printed out about 10 to sell to friends or use as giveaways to some of my friends. The copy and pasting and making sure everything was like I wanted took a while but once it was done, I didn't have to worry about that any more. The printing was another matter - because I had to make sure my pages were done properly for each of the books and so printing took me the longest to figure out - but Once I got it, the printing was less time consuming. I did spend about one day figuring out what I was doing and printing them up but it was worth it. Thanks for sharing with us.
Sonya,
